    Features

This variety rebels against the idea that roses are hard to grow!  No spraying, no deadheading, just lots of flowers all season long!

Similar to 'Peace' in its coloration, the orange buds of Oso Easy Italian Ice® rose open to soft yellow flowers melting into pink blushed margins. The soft flower color is set off nicely by its dark green, glossy foliage. Flowers are semi-doubled, with 24-30 petals per bloom. This self-cleaning rose has excellent disease-resistance, abundant flowers, and a nice habit, making it an excellent plant for home gardens.

Oso Easy Italian Ice rose is featured in our "Mama Mia" magazine ad.

    • I love the colors of this rose. I bought 5 last year. They did spectacular. This second year not so much. The leaves look great no spots but rarely flower. They are planted on south side with some other taller roses that are doing well. Not sure why there were only flowers early summer. Hoping next year will be better. Plan to add rose fertilizer regularly.

    • My Oso Easy Roses have NOT been easy. I purchased 10 from Home Depot in the fall of 2022 after seeing them on a popular garden site. I wanted something small and compact with color by the entrance to my home. They definitely give my garden color, but they are NOT as small or as compact as seen on the chart on their site. I purchased 7 of the Hot Paprika, 2 Italian Ice, and one At Last. All of the plants have exceeded the expected height, as seen on the Proven Winners Landscape Roses chart. ALL grow tall ugly stalks double the height of the plant throughout the spring and summer. Rather than leave a poor review, I contacted Proven Winners early in the summer. They replied quickly but were not helpful. I was told to continue to trim them, and they would be compact next year. I'm now in the process of digging them up to put them in a less-seen spot in the backyard. I hope that I like them next year.

    • As a Master Gardener I have a lot of experience with roses and I was excited to get this rose. But, I have to say, the plant I received today is a big disappointment! I realize you ‘trim roses’ for shipment, but this was definitely not a ‘trim to 2 inches,’ for the sake of shipping! The rose you sent me is not even 2 inches tall because it’s an INFANT. There is zero root system, the stems are scrawny and the soil is loosely-packed and it was falling apart before I even opened it. I put it in a container and we’ll see if it grows a little. It’s so scrawny I don’t trust it to plant directly into my garden. I’ll be happy to update the rating, IF this ‘Italian ice’ actually grows. But what you sent me is NOT worth the nearly $22 I paid. I’ll baby it and hope to goodness it grows!

    • Based on the photos, I thought these were going to be a much softer color than what I ended up with…the color is much more saturated than what I was looking for. They were pretty, but didn’t work for any of my beds. Pretty and easy to care for, they just weren’t for me,

    • Invincible, even in the Sonoran desert! I bought this little gem last year and popped him in the ground in full sun in my flower bed/flower graveyard. I didn't have a lot of faith he would make it through the blast fernace that is the Phoenix summer, (We spent 22 days at or above 110 degrees last year). To my surprise he did well, he had decent new growth and blooms. He took the winter looking a little worse for the ware, a little bald, and a little scraggly, but last month he burst back vigorously and is growing like a weed. I couldn't be happier. There are very few traditional garden beauty's that thrive in such a barren place. Proven Winners has provided us desert folks with a unicorn plant. Low maintenance, traditional, invincible. This plant is truly a miracle!

    • We bought 3 of these to plant in our garden below our front window, 3 yrs ago. They have been more & more spectacular every yr. My husband & I love being greeted by their beautiful scent every time we open our front door. I had been looking for many yrs for a rose that resembled the Peace rose. I was thrilled to find this rose & even happier at its performance yr after yr. We love watching the color changes that take place with these blossoms. It reminds me of another rose that does this too - a climbing rose called Joseph's Coat. We get to enjoy these roses all Summer long & into Fall in our area & are the easiest roses to care for that I've ever owned. Just water occasionally & rake underneath them once or twice after each flush of blooms & Enjoy!!
