Job Summary

The Grower Manager will oversee all aspects of the growing process within a greenhouse environment. The employee in this role is responsible for ensuring high plant quality, optimal crop readiness, and efficient management of the greenhouse environment. During peak production, this role requires the ability to lead a team of assistant growers and provide training and support to maintain healthy crops while implementing effective pest and disease management strategies.

Essential Functions

  1. Propagation Management: Manage all propagation processes, including greenhouse air and soil temperatures, boom mist settings, humidity levels, fertility programs, and crop organization based on mist and plant growth regulator requirements.
  2. Crop Management: Oversee all stages of plant growth, to ensure consistent quality and crop readiness. Monitor plant health and nutrition and make timely adjustments to cultural practices as needed to hit readiness and quality targets.
  3. Environmental Control: Regulate and adjust greenhouse conditions, including temperature, humidity, light, and ventilation to optimize plant growth. Ensure facilities and environmental control equipment are operating efficiently and as expected.
  4. Pest & Disease Management: Identify, monitor, and control insect infestations and diseases. Develop and implement integrated pest management strategies to minimize crop loss and maintain plant readiness. Spray fungicides and insecticides as needed. Deploy biological insect controls as needed. Report problematic crops to our plant protection team.
  5. Crop Placement: Strategically plan and execute crop placement to maximize space utilization and provide optimal growing conditions for each crop.
  6. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records related to crop progress, environmental conditions, pest management activities and labor. Use data to improve crop timing, quality, and recipes.
  7. Quality Assurance: Conduct regular crop inspections with our Head Growers to ensure adherence to quality standards and address any issues related to plant health or quality. Anything that affects readiness or quality needs to be addressed promptly
  8. Collaboration: Work closely with other departments (e.g., Production, QCIC, Sales, Logistics, Maintenance) to coordinate crop placement, crop scheduling, and ensure readiness of our products.
  9. Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and train assistant growers to build technical skills and foster a collaborative, productive work environment.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of plant biology, greenhouse management or pest management
  • Proven leadership skills with experience managing a team
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Greenhouse Management software and data analysis tools

Benefits and Compensation

This range reflects the expected compensation for candidates who meet the listed qualifications. Actual compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and internal equity.

Base salary: $58,000.00 – $60,000.00 per year.
