AquaPots^® Lite Planter Assembly

Assembling your AquaPots Lite self-watering container is quick and easy!
Follow these steps:

1. Set the disc with attached soil tube down into your container, 
   settling it on top of the built-in ridge. 
2. The disc should fit snugly in the bottom of the pot. If it does
   not, adjust the height of the soil tube to make it taller or shorter
   to fit your container.
3. Insert the water tube into the smaller hole on the disc. It will stick
   up above the soil to make refilling the water reservoir easy.
4. Pack Proven Winners Premium Potting Soil firmly into the soil tube,
   then fill the rest of the container.
5. Mix 2 oz. Proven Winners Continuous Release Plant Food into the soil.
6. Plant your plants and water thoroughly to activate the wicking action
   in the soil tube.
7. Add two more ounces of continuous release plant food to the water tank
   via the water tube. These nutrients will feed your plants continuously
   as they take up the water.
8. Finish by using your hose or watering can to fill the water reservoir
   through the water tube. You will know it is full when water dribbles
   out the overflow hole on the side of the container. This hole prevents
   you from overfilling the reservoir.  

Why should I use waterproofing sealant on my AquaPots?

Answer: Unglazed terra cotta is a porous material that absorbs water unless it is sealed with a glaze or waterproofing spray. That becomes an issue if you live in a colder climate that experiences freezing temperatures in the winter. If the walls of the terra cotta planter contain moisture, the water will expand when it freezes and cause cracking.

Why doesn’t this happen to regular terra cotta planters? Self-watering ceramic AquaPots are different from planters with drainage holes because AquaPots are designed to store water. As such, their clay walls don’t have the opportunity to dry out. However, if you leave regular terra cotta planters filled with soil out where they can freeze, you may experience cracking with them, too.

To prevent cracking, we recommend coating the unglazed inside walls and bottom of your ceramic AquaPots^® planter with Flex Seal^® Terra Cotta waterproof rubber sealant before first use or when the planter is completely dry. This layer of added protection will help to prevent the walls of the planter from failing and cracking. Taking this simple step will help to protect your investment so you can enjoy your AquaPots for years to come.

AquaPots Lite^™ Planter Assembly

Our lightweight planters pair perfectly with our self-watering insert
to turn them into AquaPots. Simply follow the instructions below.
They may also be used without the insert as an elegant lightweight planter - 
just don't forget to water! 

1. Our AquaPots Lite planters come with a pre-drilled drainage hole in
   the bottom of the container. This is essential to let the excess water
   drain away.
2. If you are using a square AquaPots Lite planter, set the square adapter*
   down into the bottom of your container. If your planter is round, skip
   this step.
3. Set the AquaPots insert into your container and press down firmly.
   The adjustable soil tube can be made taller or shorter to fit your
   container snugly. 
4. Extend the telescoping water tube all the way up to the top of the pot.
   It will be used to fill the water reservoir. 
5. Pack Proven Winners Premium Potting Soil firmly into the soil tube,
   then fill the rest of the container.
6. Mix 2 oz. Proven Winners Continuous Release Plant Food into the soil.
7. Plant your plants and water thoroughly to activate the wicking action
   in the soil tube.

Your AquaPots insert comes pre-assembled to make it quick and easy to turn
your own flowerpot into a self-watering container. The standard insert is round
and fits most 16-24" round containers. If your pot is square, you will need the
square pot adapter which is sold separately. The container you use with the
AquaPots Insert must have a drainage hole in the bottom to allow the excess
water to drain away.

To turn your own flowerpot into a self-watering container, follow these steps:

1. If you are using a square planter, set the square adapter down into
   the bottom of your container. If your planter is round, skip this step.
2. Set the AquaPots insert into your container and press down firmly.
   The adjustable soil tube can be made taller or shorter to fit your
   container snugly. 
3. Extend the telescoping water tube all the way up to the top of the pot.
   It will be used to fill the water reservoir. 
4. Pack Proven Winners Premium Potting Soil firmly into the soil tube,
   then fill the rest of the container.
5. Mix 2 oz. Proven Winners Continuous Release Plant Food into the soil.
6. Plant your plants and water thoroughly to activate the wicking action
